Tom Melville knows personal injury law. Many years ago, while working on a commercial fishing boat in Alaska, his left thumb was crushed. As a result of that accident, Tom was led to attend law school to pursue justice and compensation for injured people.

Tom knows that people feel overlooked by insurance companies. He is proud to help Oregonians in the fight for justice against multi-billion dollar, multi-national insurance companies. He knows how to hold them accountable – from his own experience and from nearly 30 years of practice obtaining compensation for his injured clients.

He founded Oswego Injury Law Center after 25 years of managing Gresham Injury Law Center to be closer to his new home.

Thomas Melville’s Legal Background

Tom was raised in the Midwest, graduated from the University of Vermont in 1989, and then moved out West. He worked in the commercial fishing industry in Alaska before attending law school (that part about the crushed thumb!) at the University of Idaho College of Law.

Community Involvement

Tom is a member of the Oregon and Idaho State Bar Associations. He mentors young lawyers through the OSB. He also is active in the Trial Lawyers for Public Justice and Oregon Trial Lawyers associations and the American Association for Justice. He’s a true believer in the rights of injured people to secure justice for their harms. As Alexander Hamilton said: “The first duty of society is Justice!” 

Tom served as Scoutmaster of BSA Troop 107 for 7 years and watched as a very high percentage of his troop obtained the Eagle rank. Tom also served on the board of the Portland Columbia Symphony Orchestra (now Orchestra Nova NW) for 7 years.

In his free time, he plays golf and explores the Pacific NW (and someday the globe!).
